Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during a Reiki Treatment?

We begin the treatment with a conversation and a cup of tea, so I can learn more about your medical history, significant life events or anything else that you wish to share.

When ready you will lie on the treatment table, fully clothed (removing all jewellery) and covered with blankets so you are warm and cosy. It’s advisable to wear comfortable clothing.

I’ll begin the Reiki treatment by placing my hands on or near your major organs and glands (my hands can be above with no touch), starting from the top of your head, down to your feet and then you’ll turn over and I’ll begin again from the crown to your feet. Nothing is invasive. The treatment itself lasts for around an hour.

After your treatment you may need some time before you leave the space and there’s no rush. We’ll have a chance to discuss how your treatment went and book in your next session.

If you’re able to take the rest of the day off, enjoy this special time! You may feel compelled to walk in nature, dance, listen to music, or sit quietly with a candle, contemplating the treatment.

If you enjoy journaling, recording any messages that came up for you during the treatment, in your dreams or observations in the following weeks is a lovely way to honour the messages from your guides.

You are supported between treatments and you’re encouraged to contact me if needed.

How does Reiki work?

As we know through science energy is vibration and present in everything. What is less easy to understand, as we can’t measure it, is our subtle energy system that regulates and integrates with our mental, physical, emotional and spiritual self.

Repressed emotions, trauma, shock, stress can manifest in our body as injury and ailments – Reiki healing works on replenishing our subtle energy system so that all parts of our self are working at their optimum.

Sometimes it is easy to see what needs to change and there may only be some tweaks needed, other times the issues are so ingrained and denied it can take many Reiki treatments to work through, and could be compared to peeling back the many layers of an onion (sometimes with as many tears!) Healing happens at all levels and no harm can be done by Reiki.

There’s a great Einstein quote that reminds me of the power of Reiki.

“The same consciousness that created the problem can’t solve it.”

We all have the ability to heal ourselves, but more often than not, we need the help of another to show us what’s really going on and this is when Reiki treatments come into their own.

What makes a Reiki Practitioner able to do this work is the energy they have been attuned to through special attunement ceremonies. The practitioner is ‘tuned’ in and open allowing the life force energy to flow where the client needs it most.

When you know and understand your issues then you can make better choices and it is my role to help you see new perspectives, so you have a brighter future full of possibilities to encourage your personal and spiritual development.

What are Energy Centres?

Our bodies have many Energy Centres (also known as Chakras - a Sanskrit word meaning spinning wheel of light or vortex) and in The Golden Reiki Way at this level, we focus on ten;

  1. Crown Centre

  2. Brow Centre

  3. Base of Brain Centre

  4. Throat Centre

  5. Heart Centre

  6. Solar Plexus Centre

  7. Sacral Centre

  8. Base Centre

  9. Feet Centre

  10. Foundation Centre

Energy centres are part of our etheric energy system and they work and respond to different frequencies and colours. The ten mentioned here are aligned with our major organs and glands, and through the hand positions I adopt maximise Reiki healing to these areas, where it is distributed through the energy channels in our body as Chi. Their condition has a direct impact our mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health.

  • Each treatment is unique and also different from person to person.

Some may feel heat where my hands are placed or it can feel cold. There can be tingly feelings, and you may experience colours and dreamlike images.

You may not ‘feel’ or ‘see’ anything, and that is perfectly fine.

Reiki healing works on everyone and each experience is individual.

  • Shamanic Reiki can be defined as the art and science of life.

It encompasses the laws, principles and teachings of ancient wisdom to bring healing at all levels.

Its essence is pure creativity, life-force. This knowledge brings breadth to Reiki treatments as well as depth and meaning.

The Reiki School I am a part of has Shamanic teachings at its core and therefore is how I practice as a Reiki Professional Practitioner.

  • The best results come from multiple Reiki Treatments, it’s rare for one treatment to be enough. We are complex beings with big lives and lots of layers - I like to think of it a bit like an onion, each treatment is letting go and revealing the next layer to heal.

My Reiki Treatment packages are a sequence of four treatments, allowing you to work through this healing process at a rate you can endure in a gentle, stable and structured way.

You’re embarking on a healing journey of self realisation and for some this will be a life’s work, and for many a space to return to as and when life reveals new challenges and change - the opportunity of transformation.

  • This is different for everyone depending on need - as close apart as possible is best.

For some this will be once a month, others it may need to be weekly. In urgent cases we can do two treatments in one day (Saturdays).

We will be able to discuss what’s best for you during our initial conversation.

  • If you’re new to Reiki or tried it in the past, I’m certain it will be different to how I work and have been trained.

Everyone’s healing journey is different, however when you’re working with me, we have a map and compass - direction, insight and structure. We know where we’re starting with each Reiki treatment and are prepared, you just need to arrive and be open to possibilities!

Of course, each and every treatment and treatment sequence is different, as you are a unique individual, and we slowly uncover and reveal the healing that needs to be done.

Working one-on-one in person or by Reiki Distant Healing, allows me to reach you wherever you are in the world.

Many need more than one Reiki sequence or cycle in their lifetime. Being trained in Shamanic Reiki I can call on different modalities such as Advanced Reiki, Crystal Reiki and Elemental Healing as you progress through life and new things surface to resolve.

My Moon Reiki flows with the lunar cycle over three Full Moons and is a gentle way to realign with our cyclical nature and that of our Planet Earth. They are a beautiful opportunity to embrace and align with the Divine Feminine within.

  • In most cases, yes.

As a complementary therapy Reiki works very well with conventional medicine, however always consult your GP/medical practitioner before starting treatments.

  • A wonderful thing about Reiki is that you don’t have to believe in it, for it to work, although as with any new process it does help to keep an open mind!

Do contact me and we can arrange a time to speak, where I will aim to answer any questions you have.

  • Reiki is not a religion. When I mention spirituality I’m referring to the Divine Essence of Who You Are.

  • One-on-one Reiki treatments start at £135 each and this includes the time we’re together for the treatment (90-120 minutes) and also at least an hour before setting up and then closing the space and the preparation involved.

Bank transfer on the day of your treatment is preferable. I also accept credit cards and cash.

If you’re interested in Reiki and have a question that’s not answered here, please do get in touch.
